Happy Random Acts of Kindness Day!
I love the world zen-tangles and I have honestly drawn zentangles for the longest time without knowing they were a thing. I hope this small pack reach some people out there looking to get some simple drawing done, some wind down time or some mindfulness moment.
If you did not know, zentangles are abstract patterns that sometimes are used to fill in a page or fill in shapes. My favorite zentangle has to be spirals and curved lines. I used to fill in my notebooks as a student whenever a class had no visual instruction.
This pack I have created has 7 pages of fillable images, 3 of which I've made freebies and added to our SEL category.
The goal is to fill in each section with a pattern, you don't need to think too much about it, you can even make the sections smaller. You don't need to be an artist of even be great at drawing shapes, you only need to create and repeat. To practice patterns, rather than fill in an image, I added 6 sheets with various shapes and sizes perfect for this.
For a classroom set up, I used to have my own little pack of zentangle printables ready for those students who finished their work early. Most of them did not need any extra instruction nor any lesson, simply a pencil and a printed sheet. So it's a great brain break, extra activity or end of the day wind down. However it can definitely be turned into a great project where kids practice patterns and later on create an image to fill in and color. For example:
Construction Paper and Black Marker - Let's say students are making a construction paper flower, students cut the construction paper ready to glue and then fill it in with patterns that they then trace with a black marker. Glue it together or glue it on a blank paper. This will level up any construction paper work.
Negative Space Fill - Using a carboard shape on any kind, for example a cat, students can trace it on paper to have a quick drawing ready and fill in the negative space (outside of cat) with patterns (instead of coloring it in). And/or vice versa, fill in the inside silhouette of the cat with patterns on another page.
I hope you enjoy these printables and have fun with zentangles. Find the pack here: Zentangle Drawing Pack.
Remember to be kind to others including yourself!
