What is theartelements.com about?

Welcome

The Art Elements is a website that will mainly compromise of coloring pages. It will always be the most fun of pages to create, therefore it will always be a priority to keep producing. As an artist I can be creative as well as continue providing something I used almost every single day in my classroom.

Nonetheless, there will be an array of worksheets created for different subjects. The ones available right now are: art elements, shapes for PreK and kindergarten, monthly morning work for different grades, tracing lines, tracing to draw, SEL, and cut and glue easy to print sheets. This project is just starting so be ready for more!

One last category that needs to be mentioned is the Adult Coloring pages. The one thing I did not expect was to love to sit down with my students to color or paint coloring pages during afterschool time. It is one of the most satisfying and relaxing things to do after a long day of teaching. It is also more challenging to make! There will be a variety of subjects available including mandalas, seasonal and pages inspired on my hobbies and travels.

The beginnings

"What if I do what I've been doing as a teacher but draw it by hand?"

I asked myself one night at 3AM. Being a mostly type A teacher, because if not I don't know how I'd teach, I organized myself so that I could create all the worksheets necessary so that my students could learn best. Of course, it took me a few tries (2 years) before I was making quality worksheets for the level of my students and for exactly what I wanted to teach.

As a first year art teacher they gave me no real curriculum just a lose guideline of what I needed to teach, which is great because creativity can go anywhere, right?

But "WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?!" Was a big question during that first year of teaching.

Compared to other teachers who had, what seemed, a pile or resources lined up for them, I found myself having to improvise and create everything from scratch. I started using Word to create worksheets which let me tell you, they were very boring and unappealing, especially for elementary school. It looked like I was making university level worksheets.

At last, I started using graphic design tools that helped me improve their appearance. But nothing stopped me from searching vigorously already made pages that I could print quickly. The web is the best tool as a teacher. What in the world did teachers do before? I can't even imagine, but I do know that no matter the age of the teacher, after covid-19, everyone was using online tools and computers to teach.

That being said, I created hundreds of worksheets about different subjects that served my specific teaching purpose. I did not have the time I posses in this moment, therefore many of the old worksheets were made with premade images and icons. Now I can make my own and design it completely from scratch, which is what theartelements.com will be about. And I hope all the people who come to my page can celebrate because they found something amazing and end up adding it to their list of important bookmarked pages (as I did with many).
